The direct interface for Abaqus supports the efficient optimization of engineering challenges involving multiphysics simulation. It automates the creation of an engineering workflow that contains Abaqus model entries and provides direct access to the binary ABAQUS output database (.odb file). A powerful embedded search engine offers dedicated filters, to simplify the selection of design parameters and result components from the Abaqus model – allowing for an effortless parameterization. Users have access to all available Abaqus results in an Optimus workflow, for all history and field outputs, for both scalar and vector quantities, for the complete structure as well for all sub-parts of the Abaqus model.
Optimus orchestrates parametric simulation campaigns involving Abaqus, freeing users from repetitive manual model changes and data processing. Using Optimus’ Design of Experiments (DOE), Response Surface Modeling (RSM) and Numerical Optimization methods, engineering teams quickly identify product designs that meet a combination of objectives set by multiple (often competing) performance targets. At the same time, design constraints imposed by manufacturing realities or stringent regulatory and standardization requirements are consistently taken into account.
Optimus automatically modifies the Abaqus design parameters, updates the underlying models and extracts the result outputs (scalar and vectors) in an automated simulation or optimization process. Built on Optimus’ User Customizable Interface (UCI) wrapper technology, the Optimus interface for Abaqus allows to access all advanced parameters and versions of Abaqus without any configuration programming - enabling the parameterization and workflow integration of any Abaqus model with just a few clicks.
