ANSYS® Mechanical™ efficiently and accurately calculates stresses in a cable tray support console that is statically loaded by the weight of the tray and the cables. The complete model of the support console is set up and parameterized in ANSYS® Workbench™. Optimus interacts directly with ANSYS® Workbench™, and modifies the design to minimize the weight of the support console while keeping stresses below maximum allowable values. Optimus builds the simulation workflow, automates software execution, explores the entire design space and identifies the lightest support console design that satisfies all constraints.

Focus on value-add work

Tight integration allows Optimus to directly access the parameterized model in ANSYS® Workbench™ - no further work required. Optimus then executes the simulation process in an automated way (eliminating the need for manual interventions), explores the entire design space and runs smart design optimization.

Simplifying the decision process

Using Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques, Optimus screens the entire design space - minimizing elapsed time thanks to parallel execution of the simulation process. Using cross-validation techniques, Optimus data mining identified the most influential design parameters, which simplifies the decision process and reduces the number of runs needed to identify the most promising and feasible design candidates.

Delivering a better design faster

Optimus successfully reduced maximum stress by 65% - saving over 160 hours of manual model preparation and simulation execution time.
