At the 2013 STAR Global Conference in Orlando (FL), Noesis Solutions presented how it collaborated with truck manufacturer Navistar to demonstrate and understand the capabilities and possibilities of using Optimus with Star-CCM+ to optimize truck aerodynamics.

Automating the simulation process

Using Optimus, the entire CFD simulation process was automated in a fraction of the time needed to set up a single run manually. Optimus then ran a smart set of virtual experiments, quickly altering run-dependent conditions between experiments.

Improving fuel efficiency, increasing driver comfort

Optimus’ powerful multi-objective optimization algorithms reduced drag by 10% (improving truck fuel efficiency) while increasing truck cabin volume by 7% (increasing driver comfort).
